Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá
Created in 1988 by Fanny Mikey and Ramiro Osorio to celebrate the 450th anniversary of Bogotá’s foundation, probably today it is one of the biggest performing arts festivals in the world. Since more than 2 and a half million spectators gather at the Festival to enjoy street performances, theater halls, dance, circus, performance, pantomime, concerts, specialized workshops and conferences. Furthermore this international event takes place every two years and it’s definitely a cultural adventure.

Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá
First of all, it is considered one of the three most important publishing events in Latin America. Due to thanks to the festival, Bogotá was titled the World Book Capital in 2007. Therefore publishers, graphic designers, booksellers, journalists, literary agents , distributors, researchers, personalities from editorial world and visitors from different parts of the country come together in more than 400 cultural events that span almost 15 days.

Festival de Verano
Every August over one million attendees congregate in Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar to celebrate Bogota’s birthday. Seems like it is rated as the most important leisure time festival held in Bogota. Also as part of this festival, there are events such as the International Kite Festival, Summer Theatre, Under the Stars Party, and the District Festival Cheerleader, among other activities. As a result this is a big and fun festival

Festival de Cine de Bogotá
The festival was born in 1984 and seems like that its main objective is to reward new international filmmakers. Therefore you can enjoy special exhibitions and conferences with special guests in different theaters and cinemas of the city.

Festivales al Parque en Bogotá
Finally, in the capital, there are six concerts each year that showcase different musical genres: rock, hip-hop , jazz , opera , salsa and traditional Colombian music. All festivals have popular bands and local artists performing, they are selected through competitions to exhibit the best of their talents and maybe to share the stage with other groups with greater recognition. So all festivals are complemented with additional concerts, workshops, exhibitions and conferences. They all are free!!!
