The botanic garden “Jorge Celestino Mutis” is the biggest botanical garden in Colombia.
It serves both as a recreation and research center with an emphasis on Andean and Paramo ecosystems.
The garden features plants from every Colombian altitude, climate and region.
The municipally owned park is famous nationwide and is a member of the internationally know BGCI (Botanic Gardens Conservation International).
There is also an artificial waterfall and labs for the study of plants and flowers.
It also has public services such as a library and a tourist information desk.
The garden is the only one in the nation specialized in preserving and collecting Andean species of flowers.
Also the park includes a sun clock, an orchid collection and a wide variety of Amazon flowers.
Every month are a different exposition, could be cactus, carnivore plants, or special deseart flowers.
When you visit Bogota and if you want to go there it is on Avenida Calle 63 # 68-95 and it is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and weekends from 9:00am to 5:00 pm (the first Monday of the month is closed).
The entry costs $2,700 (0.92 USD) for adults and $1,400 (0.48 USD) for children (4 to 12 years old).
